Colegio de Sta. Teresa de Avila. The College began only academic year 2007- 2008. The founding of the college was the response to the immediate need of the students in the nearby community. A Ladderized Education was fashioned to meet its needs.
Ladderized Education involves granting due to recognition of credits from a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program to a regular College Degree Program (Syjuco 2006).
The BSHRM is a concrete example of CSTA, where seven TVET courses were embedded starting from the first year level to the fourth year level. After finishing first year, the students should have been assessed of their competency level in two embedded courses, namely: Housekeeping and Front Office Services. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) administers the assessment so as to qualify for a National Certificate Level II (NC II). Passing this assessment signifies the readiness the students to move on the next level of TESDA qualification. This is done until they finish their fourth year level.
In barely 3 years of existence CSTA was able to strike a partnership program with Spratt Shaw Community College (SSCC) Canada. The graduating students of 2010 – 2011 will receive two diplomas, that from CSTA and another from Spratt Shaw Community College. The diploma from the SSCC is a qualification that facilitates a better opportunity to work in Canada Another very important objective of CSTA is to improve the quality of instruction through qualified faculty members. This was realized by inviting one of the well – known universities to extend their masters degree program to the institution.
The MA program will commence of the second semester of academic year 2010 – 2011. It is expected in the academic year 2011 – 2012 all faculty members will finished their degree.
