Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) is a higher education institution in Quezon Province founded in 1964 as the Lucban Municipal Junior High School. From there, SLSU broadened its horizon and began offering college education as well, which led to its inauguration as a university in March 2007. SLSU has currently many university campuses all over Quezon province which includes Lucban (main), Lucena, Tiaong, Alabat, Catanauan, Gumaca, Infanta, Polillo, and Tagkawayan.
SLSU offers diverse undergraduate courses under the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Agriculture, Allied Medicine, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, and Teacher Education, making sure that each curriculum matches the needs and interest of its students. In addition, SLSU also provides graduate studies programs, both for doctorate and masters degrees. Some of these include Ph.D. Development Education, Ph.D. Science Education, Ph.D. Educational Management, Doctor of Business Administration, MS Environmental Science, Master of Arts in Educational Management, Master of Arts in Nursing, and Master in Business Administration, among others.
In order to provide better learning facilities, SLSU ensures that it offers top-tier equipment and access to technology. Budgets were allocated to construct laboratories for different purposes: Computer, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Alongside the construction of laboratories is the purchase of necessary equipment, devices, and apparatuses to make them functional for the students and professors. The institution also gears up its students for the fast-paced demands of the real world by offering quality education that can help them contribute to the overall development of the society. Lastly, SLSU also renews e-journal subscriptions so students and professors have access to vast information.
